The race we now know as the Renewi Tour has existed since 2005 and has changed its name several times since: Eneco Tour (2005-2016), BinckBank Tour (2017-2020), briefly Benelux Tour (2021, without a title sponsor), followed by a year without an edition in 2022. Since 2023 the race has continued as the Renewi Tour. The record holder for overall wins is Tim Wellens, with four general classification wins.

Eneco Tour (2005-2016)
The race evolved in 2005 from the earlier Tour of the Netherlands and that year grew into a joint Dutch-Belgian stage race, internationally also known as the Tour of Benelux. Energy company Eneco became the title sponsor, and the race ran under the name Eneco Tour through 2016. During that period, the race grew into a fixture on the WorldTour calendar, with a route that shifted back and forth between the Netherlands and Belgium each year.
BinckBank Tour and Benelux Tour (2017-2021)
From 2017, investment platform BinckBank took over the title sponsorship, so the race continued as the BinckBank Tour, a name that held through 2020. In 2021 there was no title sponsor, so the race appeared on the calendar that year under the neutral name Benelux Tour.
No edition in 2022
The race wasn't held in 2022. An overcrowded cycling calendar, an overlap with the Vuelta a España and additional logistical and organisational challenges lay behind that decision. For the organisers, that meant a year without an edition, between the last Benelux Tour (2021) and the first Renewi Tour (2023).
Renewi Tour: from 2023
Since 2023, waste management and recycling company Renewi has been the title sponsor, giving the race its current name. The race has traditionally been held in both Belgium and the Netherlands; the 2026 edition is the first to take place entirely on Belgian soil, with all five stages within Belgium's borders. Across the full history of the race (Eneco Tour, BinckBank Tour, Benelux Tour and Renewi Tour combined), Tim Wellens is the rider with the most overall wins: he won the general classification in 2014, 2015, 2023 and 2024.
