Who are the favourites for the Formula 1 World Championship?

Formula 1, that's pure adrenaline, speed and excitement! The Formula 1 World Championship is the ultimate event for motorsport fans, and at Napoleon Sports you're in the right place to fully follow every race, every overtake and every pitstop.

In the current season, Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) leads the drivers' championship, after a strong first half of the season with several wins. George Russell follows in second place, with Lewis Hamilton in third on equal points with Russell. Max Verstappen remains a name to reckon with thanks to his experience and speed, even though he sits a bit further back in the standings this season.

Outsiders in the Formula 1 World Championship: who provides the surprise?

Formula 1 is more than just the fight at the top. Besides the established names and top teams, there are always drivers and teams who can spring a surprise. These are the outsiders, the ones who, on a good day, can storm the podium or even pull off a sensational win. Betting on these outsiders can add extra excitement to the Formula 1 World Championship and potentially deliver interesting odds.

Who are the potential surprises?

Although the top teams often dominate, there are several factors that can give an outsider a chance. Think of drivers with exceptional talent who drive a less competitive car, but who can excel on circuits where the driver can make the difference. Teams that steadily make progress with updates can also suddenly join the fight for the top spots. Young talents who have just come in, such as the rookies in 2025, can also produce unexpected results as they gain more experience.

Recent races or historical performances at specific circuits can also give an indication of who might spring a surprise. A driver who performed strongly at a particular circuit last year may well do so again this year, regardless of the overall balance of power.

Betting on outsiders at Napoleon Sports

At Napoleon Sports, you can easily bet on Formula 1 and discover which drivers and teams are considered outsiders. The odds for these drivers are often higher than for the top favourites, which also means a higher-risk prediction.

You can bet on various markets, such as:

Race winner: Will that one outsider run away with the win?
Podium finish: Does a surprising name finish in the top 3?
Top 6/Top 10 finish: Do they get themselves into the points or even higher?
Head-to-Head: Which of two closely matched drivers finishes higher?

Keep a close eye on the F1 odds, as these can fluctuate based on practice, qualifying and even during the race via live betting. As with any bet, a higher-odds outsider is a higher-risk pick, not a shortcut to a bigger win.

Whether you follow an established name or a surprising outsider, at Napoleon Sports you can experience the Formula 1 World Championship more closely than ever before.

Betting tips for the Formula 1 World Championship

The Formula 1 World Championship is one of the most exciting and unpredictable sporting events in the world. To improve your chances, we've put together some smart betting tips to help you make well-considered choices.

Stay up to date with the latest news: In Formula 1, everything can change quickly. Make sure you're always aware of the latest news about drivers, teams and circuits. Regularly visit reliable sources such as Formula 1 and Formule1.nl for updates and analysis.
Watch in-play fluctuations: A lot of unexpected events can happen during a race, such as Safety Car situations, crashes, mechanical failures, punctures, changing weather conditions (rain), pitstop problems, penalties for drivers, strategic decisions, engine issues and track limits warnings or penalties. These factors can drastically affect the outcome of a race and offer opportunities for live betting.
Be careful with over-hyped favourites: Although some drivers are considered favourites, this doesn't always mean they will win. Analyse their performances in recent races and take into account factors such as circuit suitability and weather conditions before placing your bet.
Consider MatchCombos or spread your stake: With MatchCombos, you can combine multiple bets for a bigger potential payout. This can be especially useful if you expect different outcomes. In addition, spreading your stake across multiple markets can reduce your risk.
Learn more about strategies: For in-depth strategies and analysis, you can turn to specialised websites. These sources offer valuable insights that can help you make better-informed decisions.
