1. What is WC 2026 Bracket?
The bracket is the second half of the tournament: every match from the Round of 32 onwards, single elimination, with the winner of each tie progressing to the next round. With 48 teams in the expanded format, the bracket starts one round earlier than the 32-team World Cups that fans grew up watching, then funnels through the familiar shape of Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final.
Five rounds plus the play-off for third place make 32 knockout matches in total. A team that wins the trophy will play eight games across the tournament: three in the group stage plus five in the bracket. That is one extra match compared with the 2022 winners.
The bracket logic itself was set at the draw on 5 December 2025. Group winners and runners-up are slotted into pre-determined positions, and the eight best third-placed sides fill the remaining Round of 32 spots. The pairing matrix is fixed from day one, which means each group already knows which other groups it could face two rounds deep, even before a ball has been kicked. For the full draw recap, see the WC 2026 draw guide.
2. From Groups to the Round of 32
The new Round of 32 is where the expanded format becomes visible. The top two teams from each of the 12 groups qualify automatically, joined by the eight best third-placed teams ranked on points, goal difference and goals scored. That gives 32 sides progressing from the group stage to the first knockout round, played between Sunday 28 June and Saturday 4 July 2026.
For the full match-by-match Round of 32 breakdown, including every pairing code (such as "2A v 2B" or "1E v 3ABCDF"), the venue and the Belgian kick-off time for each of the 16 fixtures, see the dedicated guide.

Every pairing, every host city, Belgian kick-off times and Belgium's possible Round of 32 routes are covered in detail in the dedicated guide.
3. Round of 16: 8 Matches, 4 Days
The Round of 16 runs from Saturday 4 July to Tuesday 7 July 2026. Eight ties take the bracket from 16 teams down to the final eight. Three of the fixtures take place in the same cities that hosted Round of 32 ties (Houston, New York / New Jersey and Atlanta), while five move on to other venues across the tournament map.
| Match | Date (BE) | Kick-off CEST | Pairing | Venue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 90 | Sat 4 Jul | 19:00 | W73 v W75 | Houston |
| 89 | Sat 4 Jul | 23:00 | W74 v W77 | Philadelphia |
| 91 | Sun 5 Jul | 22:00 | W76 v W78 | MetLife Stadium, New York / New Jersey |
| 92 | Mon 6 Jul | 02:00 | W79 v W80 | Estadio Azteca, Mexico City |
| 93 | Mon 6 Jul | 21:00 | W83 v W84 | AT&T Stadium, Dallas |
| 94 | Tue 7 Jul | 02:00 | W81 v W82 | Lumen Field, Seattle |
| 95 | Tue 7 Jul | 18:00 | W86 v W88 | Atlanta |
| 96 | Tue 7 Jul | 22:00 | W85 v W87 | BC Place, Vancouver |
Pairing codes: "W73" means "the winner of Round of 32 Match 73", and so on. Brackets fill in once Round of 32 results are confirmed.
Three of the eight Round of 16 ties begin after midnight Belgian time, with the Mexico City and Seattle fixtures the toughest for night-owl viewers. The five evening kick-offs on Saturday 4 July and Monday 6 July are the most accessible for fans following live from Belgium.
4. Quarter-Finals: 4 Cities, 4 Days
From eight teams down to four. The quarter-finals are spread across four days from Thursday 9 July to Sunday 12 July, with one match per day in four different host cities. This is the point at which the schedule shifts from "constant action" to "headline event per day": the producers want each tie to breathe.
| Match | Date (BE) | Kick-off CEST | Pairing | Venue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 97 | Thu 9 Jul | 22:00 | W89 v W90 | Gillette Stadium, Boston |
| 98 | Fri 10 Jul | 21:00 | W93 v W94 | SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles |
| 99 | Sat 11 Jul | 23:00 | W91 v W92 | Hard Rock Stadium, Miami |
| 100 | Sun 12 Jul | 03:00 | W95 v W96 | Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City |
Friday and Saturday evening kick-offs in Los Angeles and Miami are the prime Belgian viewing windows. The Kansas City quarter-final is the late one of the round, kicking off at 03:00 CEST on Sunday morning. Belgian fans planning to watch every quarter-final live will need either a flexible schedule or a strong relationship with the snooze button.

5. Semi-Finals: Dallas and Atlanta
Two semi-finals, two days, two of the biggest stadiums on the map. Both kick off at 21:00 CEST, which is the most viewer-friendly slot of the entire knockout calendar for Belgian fans. AT&T Stadium in Dallas and Atlanta Stadium in Atlanta both seat well over 70,000 with closed roofs, which keeps the showpieces weather-proof in mid-July.
| Match | Date (BE) | Kick-off CEST | Pairing | Venue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 101 | Tue 14 Jul | 21:00 | W97 v W98 | AT&T Stadium, Dallas |
| 102 | Wed 15 Jul | 21:00 | W99 v W100 | Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta |
The semi-final winners progress directly to the final on Sunday 19 July. The losers meet four days after their elimination in the play-off for third place, hosted in Miami.
6. Play-off for Third Place: Miami, 18 July
Often the most overlooked match of the tournament, the third-place play-off is contested between the two semi-final losers. It is played on the evening before the final at Miami Stadium in Miami, with the winner taking the bronze medal home.
| Match | Date (BE) | Kick-off CEST | Pairing | Venue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 103 | Sat 18 Jul | 23:00 | RU101 v RU102 | Hard Rock Stadium, Miami |
In 2022 the third-place play-off finished Croatia 2-1 Morocco, with Croatia adding bronze to their silver medal from 2018. Historically the match attracts fewer headlines than the final, but it is the last full international fixture of the season for the two squads involved.
7. The Final: the New York New Jersey Stadium, 19 July 2026
The 23rd the tournament final is staged on Sunday 19 July 2026 at the New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The stadium has a listed capacity of 82,500 for tournament football, the largest of any venue in the 2026 calendar. Kick-off is at 21:00 CEST, a prime evening slot for Belgian viewers.
| Match | Date (BE) | Kick-off CEST | Pairing | Venue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FINAL | Sun 19 Jul | 21:00 | W101 v W102 | MetLife Stadium, New York / New Jersey |

8. Outright Winner Odds: Bracket-Driven Pricing
Once the draw was complete and the bracket shape was clear, the outright winner market settled into a clear pecking order. Spain emerged as the shortest price on the Napoleon Sports board, with France close behind and the usual heavyweights filling out the next tier.
| Rank | Team | Outright price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Spain | 5.50 |
| 2 | France | 6.00 |
| 3 | England | 8.00 |
| 4 | Brazil | 9.00 |
| 5 | Argentina | 9.50 |
| 6 | Portugal | 12.00 |
| 7 | Germany | 13.00 |
| 8 | Netherlands | 20.00 |
| 9 | Norway | 35.00 |
| 10 | Belgium | 40.00 |
Prices reflect the Napoleon Sports board at the latest update. Live numbers will change as the tournament approaches.
A useful way to think about outright prices is to combine them with the bracket route. A team's path matters: a softer-looking Round of 32 plus a manageable quarter-final draw will firm a price up, while a heavyweight on the same side of the bracket will see the price drift. 9. Belgium's Possible Route Through the Bracket
Belgium are in Group G alongside IR Iran, Egypt and New Zealand. Three different bracket routes open up depending on the Belgians' group-stage finish, with the deepest projection sketched out below.
If Belgium win Group G, the projected route runs through a Round of 32 tie at Seattle Stadium in Seattle against the third-placed team from one of Groups A, E, H, I or J, depending on the final third-place ranking. A Round of 16 winner from that side of the bracket would head to either Houston or Philadelphia for the next stage, with the quarter-final shaping up at Boston Stadium in Boston.
From Boston, the semi-final would be on Tuesday 14 July at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, with the final five days later at the New York New Jersey Stadium. That is the most navigable projection: a second-place finish in Group G or a third-place qualification routes Belgium into a different bracket half, with tougher early-round opponents.
For full Round of 32 routing depending on Belgium's group finish, see the Round of 32 guide. Belgium-specific previews and tipsters' takes are gathered in the predictions hub.
